DDR North Atlanta- Raisin' the Roof with Habitat for Humanity

Welcome to the informational page for the North Atlanta DDR Tournament. Information about the tournament will be posted here as it becomes availible.

Important update- Registration will now begin at 1:00 instead of 2:00 due to other scheduling issues. Please be around before 2:00 so we can get the tournament going promptly.

The tournament will be held at Mountasia Family Fun Center in Kennesaw, GA. More information can be found at DDRFreak.com's Machine Location page.

The tournament will occur on Tuesday, July 9th at 2:00 PM. Registration will begin 1:00. This is a change of plans.

The cost will be $10 per person to compete- I realize this is higher than some tournaments, but the proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, so we need to make a profit.

As of right now there is no freestyle competition due to Mountasia corporate policies. The technical competition will be single-elimination Perfect Attack.

Prizes will include Mountasia products (tokens, etc.) and RedOctane merchandise. No cash prizes will be given because of the fundraiser nature of the tournament. More information will be posted when it becomes availible.

Special thanks to RedOctane.com for their generous support!

Information on the prizes has just arrived. The prizes will include a RedOctane dance mat and a spiffy-cool RedOctane t-shirt, along with coupons and such. The winner of the tournament will, of course, recieve the pad. The rest of the prize structure will be decided once we actually get the box.

The main discussion area for this tournament is here on ddrfreak's forums.

Announcements about the format, prize structure, and other information will be posted on this site as it becomes availible. With other questions, you can contact me at ubernerd42@yahoo.com

You can see our flyer here.

Tournament Format:

At this time there will not be a freestyle portion due to Mountasia corporate policies.

The technical tournament will be run as follows:
A single-elimination bracket (this may change to double-elimination if time permits) will be formed, with byes distributed randomly.

Each bracketed pair will play two songs- a coin toss will determine which player picks first. After a player has picked a song, the other player will determine the difficulty at which the song will be played. This will help ensure that players do not memorize songs. You are strongly encouraged not to attempt to get around this measure, as memorization detracts from the overall fun of the tournament. Failing a song will not directly disqualify a player.

If the tournament is single-elimination, the loser of each match will be eliminated, and the winner will proceed to the next round.

If the tournament is double-elimination, the loser of each match in the winners' bracket will proceed to the next round in the losers' bracket, the winner of each match in the winners' bracket will proceed in the winners' bracket, and the loser of each match in the losers' bracket will be eliminated.

At the end of the double-elimination tournament, the finalist of the winners' bracket and the finalist of the losers' bracket will compete to determine the final winner.
